Dayne Davis, who has spent the last five seasons with the Vols, announced Thursday that he would return to the team in 2024, taking advantage of one final year of eligibility.

Davis made the announcement on X.
The 6-foot-7, 325-pound Davis arrived at Tennessee as a walk on in 2019. He redshirted his freshman season and earned a scholarship in December 2020.
Davis made his college football debut as a sophomore in 2021, appearing in 13 games and making three starts at right tackle.
He played in a reserve tackle role in 2022, logging 131 offensive snaps during Tennessee's 11-win campaign.
Davis started three games as a redshirt senior in 2023 and served as a backup center to Ollie Lane during starter Cooper Mays' absence in the first four games of the season. He has appeared in 39 career games.
Though Davis may not be featured in the weekly starting rotation next season, his ability to play multiple positions does provide additional depth and experience.
Davis is one of three linemen to announce his return, joining left tackle John Campbell Jr. and Mays, who previously announced their return earlier this month.
Javontez Spraggins has yet to announce his decision.
