Tennessee women's basketball has added another player out of the transfer portal.

This time, it's former South Carolina guard Talaysia Cooper who spent her freshman year with the Gamecocks before leaving the program.

In 24 appearances, Cooper averaged 2.9 points on 39% shooting. The 6-foot guard scored a career-high 15 points vs. Texas A&M on Dec. 29, showing her true scoring potential.

However, due to Cooper not entering the transfer portal until after the NCAA's deadline for immediate eligibility, she will be forced to sit out a year before playing with the team. Over the course of next season, she will be with the Lady Vols and enrolled at the university, just not able to play in games.

Cooper will be a valuable asset for Tennessee in the coming years, though. With no recruits signed in the 2023 class and the only scholarship freshman in 2022's class departing after her freshman year, Kellie Harper and the Lady Vols will benefit from Cooper's three remaining seasons of eligibility.

Before joining the Gamecocks, Cooper was considered the No. 4 point guard in her class by ESPN. She was a McDonalds All-American while surpassing 3,000 points in high school, as well.

She also earned South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year honors before entering college.

MORE FROM VOLREPORT: Transfer Jewel Spear settles in with Lady Vols ahead of senior season

In the 2024-25 season, Tennessee's guard rotation will likely return senior Kaiya Wynn, 5th-year senior Jewel Spear, 5th-year senior Destinee Wells, junior Avery Strickland and 5th-year senior Tess Darby.

This will leave plenty of playtime to be taken by Cooper as she progresses in her career.
