Under the direction of Kellie Harper, Tennessee is perfect against its in-state rival.

The Lady Vols won an eighth straight over Vanderbilt on Sunday with an 86-61 victory in Nashville. This also gave Tennessee the season sweep after it took down the Commodores earlier in the season in Knoxville.

During the first win, it was Rickea Jackson and Jasmine Powell both scoring 16 leading the way. While her teammates continued to help on Sunday, Jackson shouldered an even bigger load this time.

Jackson produced 24 points on an extremely efficient 11-for-15 shooting. She also notched seven rebounds and four assists in her 30 minutes on the floor.

Alongside Jackson, Jewel Spear and Powell had solid nights. Spear put up 16 points on 5-for-10 shooting with three made 3-pointers. She also came down with a rebound, passed for an assist and blocked a shot.

Powell finished with 12 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists.

As a team, Tennessee (16-9, 9-4 SEC) shot 52.5% from the field and 42.9% on 3-pointers. On defense, it held the Commodores (19-8, 6-7) to 32.9% shooting from the field and 29.4% on 3-pointers.

This was former Lady Vol Justine Pissott's second game against her former squad, as well. She put up nine points in game one but only produced three this time.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After trading a handful of baskets, Tennessee ran off to an impressive start. The Lady Vols used a 12-0 run to create a 13-point lead. This featured nine straight misses for Vanderbilt and 6-for-7 shooting for Tennessee.

Due to this, the Lady Vols took a 15-point lead into the second quarter. Tennessee shot 76.9% from the field and 83.3% on 3-pointers in the period to create a large advantage.

In the second quarter, Tennessee built its lead up to 18 early forcing the Commodores to call timeout. Vanderbilt used this to cut the lead down to 10 off the back of a 10-2 run. However, the Lady Vols tightened up from here.

Tennessee didn't allow a basket for the final three and a half minutes of the half. This defensive effort and made shots on the other end brought the lead back up to 15 at the break.

While leading 44-29, Jackson led the way. She posted 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting and a pair of made 3-pointers. She also dished out four assists and grabbed three rebounds. Spear had nine with each point coming in the first half, as well.

Tennessee would add three points to its lead in the third quarter. The teams played a mostly even frame but a Kaiya Wynn buzzer-beating midrange helped create the extra separation.

The fourth quarter featured Vanderbilt whittling the Lady Vols' lead down to 11 with 6:44 to play. However Spear responded with a made 3-pointer to force the Commodores to call timeout.

From this point, Tennessee kept things an arm's reach away. The Lady Vols managed a 25-point victory to take both games of the season series.

STAT OF THE DAY

After getting just seven points off the bench in the loss to South Carolina, Tennessee's bench was a big factor in the win over Vanderbilt.

The Lady Vols got 26 points from its bench in the win. The most came from Tess Darby who totaled nine.

On the other end, the Commodores only got six points from their bench.
