With the spring transfer portal window closed and the group of players who flocked to it finding new homes, it's getting increasingly easier to see what rosters will look like in the 2025 season.
This includes Tennessee football who lost a good bit to the portal but did bring in some talent.
Here's where they stand.

Vols in bottom half of the SEC
According to On3's transfer rankings, Tennessee is ranked as the No. 31 team in this year's portal cycle. This metric compares the portal activity to the team's previous roster, not other teams, to see if the roster got better or worse.
This is good for 10th in the SEC. The teams ahead of the Vols are LSU (No. 2), Ole Miss (No. 3), Auburn (No. 6), Missouri (No. 7), Kentucky (No. 15), Texas A&M (No. 17), Texas (No. 18), South Carolina (No. 27) and Vanderbilt (No. 28).
Behind Tennessee in the conference are Mississippi State (No. 42), Georgia (No. 44) and Oklahoma (No. 50), Arkansas (No. 58), Alabama (No. 62) and Florida (No. 64).
On3 lists the Vols as bringing seven transfers in and losing 22. Tennessee traded one incoming four-star for one out-going and had six incoming three-stars compared to 19 outgoing.
Who Tennessee lost in the spring
Tennessee's biggest loss in the spring transfer portal window was starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava. The Vols' starter was caught in the midst of a reported NIL negotiation before skipping out on Tennessee's walk-through the Friday morning before the Orange & White spring game.
Josh Heupel announced the team would be moving on without him going forward. Iamaleava ultimately signed at UCLA. His brother, Madden Iamaleava, also left Arkansas to join the Bruins before his freshman year.
The Vols had another trio of offensive players join Iamaleava in the portal. Larry Johnson III, a tackle competing for the starting job on the right side, went to Colorado. Ayden Bussell, a guard, heads to West Virginia.
The other offensive departure was slot receiver Dayton Sneed who heads to North Carolina. His brother, Carson Sneed, is a 2026 four-star tight end commit for Tennessee.
On defense, three defensive backs departed. Jakobe Thomas picked Miami, John Slaughter joins Johnson at Colorado and Christian Charles is headed to Virginia.
Who the Vols added in the spring
Tennessee picked up commitments from three players in the spring window.
The Vols' biggest headliner was the replacement for Iamaleava. After spending spring with UCLA as an App State transfer, quarterback Joey Aguilar swapped schools with Iamaleava.
On defense, Tennessee added Colton Hood to the secondary. He is a cornerback most recently playing at Colorado but has also played at Auburn.
On the defensive line, Josh Schell, a Division II defensive tackle, picked the Vols.
