Enzo Jennings was offered a scholarship by Tennessee’s previous staff, but the 2020 athlete from Oak Park (Mich.) remains a target for Jeremy Pruitt & Co.

The 4-star prospect hails from the same high school as former Vols running back John Kelly, returning to Rocky Top for the first time in nearly two years last weekend.

The facilities have been upgraded in spots, but Jennings’ main takeaway during the visit was his time with the new staff.

“I came for the spring game two years ago,” Jennings said.

“It was good (Saturday) to see how the players work and how they took to coaching.”

Jennings made the eight-hour trip with 4-star teammate Justin Rogers, and the 6-foot-2, 185-pound athlete quickly noticed an opportunity with the Vols.

“I think they could use me seeing their corners and safeties. I think I could be an asset to the team,” Jennings said.

During the visit, Jennings met Pruitt and cornerbacks coach Terry Fair for the first time. Both stressed UT’s need for playmakers in the secondary and their ability to develop and send talent to the NFL.

“(Pruitt was talking to me about how he brings a lot of players to the NFL and that he wins national championships,” Jennings said.

“It was good meeting coach (Fair). He was telling me what he was looking for in DBs and what he could help me with.”

Jennings, who holds early offers from Georgia, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Pitt, Minnesota and Rutgers, said schools “love” his length and speed. His biggest strength is his “aggressiveness,” describing his game as a “combination of both” Deion Sanders and Sean Taylor.

Talk about confidence in a corner.

While distance could be a factor in his recruitment, Jennings, who hung out with Kelly over the weekend, said the former running back “talks about Tennessee all the time and wants to get everybody from Oak Park to Tennessee.”

With that in mind, Jennings plans to “definitely come down (this fall) for a game. Me and Justin.”
