4-star wideout Arjei Henderson excited to see where Vol interest goes

Richmond, Texas wide receiver Arjei Henderson has been one of the top players in the country for quite sometime. Once committed to Oklahoma, Henderson is back on the market and fielding plenty of calls. He's hearing a ton from Tennessee and had wide receivers coach David Johnson by his high school on Monday.

"They want me to come in and help them," Henderson said. "They tell me I can come in and make plays for them and in watching their games you can tell I could help. I'm excited to see where this goes."

Henderson could possibly be in Knoxville this weekend and if not will visit officially in January. He is fully aware Tennessee doesn't have an offensive coordinator, but he Pruitt and company tell him they have their eyes on someone who knows how to succeed on offense.

"They talk about the things as a receiver you dream of," Henderson said. "Pass happy and three and four receivers wide. Running a pro-style offense in the best conference. Coach Pruitt tells me about his dreams for the Tennessee program."

So what puts Tennessee in the mix for a visit? Why does Tennessee all of a sudden find their way into the race for Henderson?

"Their strong push for me," Henderson said. "They have never stopped. I've caught up with these guys a couple of times before. Obviously it's more serious now with signing day around the corner and it being my senior year."

The relationship that Henderson has built with Johnson is still in it's infancy, but he likes the straight forward approach of Johnson.

"He's a straight forward guy," Henderson said. "He's not going to tell you tings he doesn't mean. He gives you good eye contact. He talks to you about life and the man that I am. It's not just about football and I like that about him a lot."

Henderson was clocked at 4.51 at the Opening. It was the last time he was clocked, but he fully believes he brings many facets to the table.

"Just my versatility," Henderson said. "My hand and eye coordination. They tell me that I stand out on film with my ball skills and route running."

Henderson plans on finalize a potential official visit later this week.

Rivals.com ranks Henderson as a 4-star wide receiver in the class of 2019.
