The modernization of Tennessee’s 100-plus year-old football cathedral continues.
Neyland Stadium, which underwent a number of renovations last year, was approved for a budget increase on more upgrades by the UT Board of Trustees on Friday, the school announced.
The stadium is currently in phase 1 of a multiphase project.
The increase was good for $49 million, bumping the overall budget to $337 million and will include the removal of South Stadium Hall, partially completed WiFi capabilities, brick cladding around in-bowl vomitories and new restrooms under the Gate 10 ramp by the upcoming 2023 season.
Stadium-wide WiFi, a new entry for Gate 4, upgrades for all Stadium skyboxes and expanded concourses are among the renovations coming in 2024 and 2025.
Last season, a new videoboard and amenities were added to the upper deck of the north endzone and the west stands. The “V-O-L-S” signs were also restored on each side of the north endzone videoboard.
Tennessee’s home opener is set for Sept. 9 against Austin Peay.
