Commitment Roundup: Alontae Taylor has record-setting night

Here’s a look at how Tennessee’s commits fared on the field this week, including a record-setting game from Alontae Taylor and another set of big performances from quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and tailback Anthony Grant.

In a 43-35 loss to Seigel, Taylor had a record night, setting the school-mark for career rushing yards and touchdowns. Taylor had over 100 yards on the ground, scored two rushing touchdowns and also added 88-yard kickoff return score.

Penix completed 14 of 20 passes for 241 yards and four touchdowns in Tampa Bay Tech's 55-28 win over Durant.

Grant had a huge night in Buford’s 45-0 win over Walnut Grove. He scored a 45-yard touchdown on his first carry of the night and went on to finish with 157 yards of total offense and three TDs.

Jacques-Louis had 98 yards rushing and a touchdown in Dunbar's 54-8 win.

Dean had an interception and a couple tackles, as Dutchtown's defense shutout Broadmoor 28-0.

Horn had four tackles in Alpharetta's 14-6 win.

Gerald had four tackles, 2.5 TFLs and one sack in a 40-16 Moorpark.

Knoxville Catholic had a bye week.

Chairman's stats were unavailable but the defensive end was a part of another strong defensive effort in a 45-7 win over Villa Rica.

Antonutti had four tackles, a sack and two pass broken up as Ensworth rolled by Polpe John Paul II 51-14.

Farragut enjoyed an idle date this weekend.

Cross' Jones High School team beat Eustis High School 59-0.

Flint had a big two-way game in a 21-14 loss to Sardis. He recorded 12 tackles on defense, and on offense he took carries away from LSU commit Tae Provens, finishing with 111 yards rushing and two TDs on 22 carries.

Gibbs beat to Carter High School 43-13.

Brooks averaged 48 yards per punt, including one inside the 20, while also putting both his kickoffs in the end zone. Brooks made both of his extra point attempts.

Lawless had six tackles and 1.5 TFLs in Nashville Christian's 66-14 win over Clarksville.

In a 31-10 win over Olympia, Ingle had five tackles, two TFLs and one pass breakup.
