While Tennessee is coming off a major recruiting weekend where it captured some real momentum with a number of top targets, the Vols are actually set up for a rather anticlimactic early signing day tomorrow.
Priority prospects like 5-star tackle Darnell Wright, 4-star athlete Quavaris Crouch and 4-star linebacker Henry To’oto’o won’t make any announcements Wednesday. Neither will Baylor wideout commit Jaylen Ellis or in-state linebacker target Chris Russell, so most of the focus for Tennessee will be on the signatures of its own commits.
Right now, 16 of the Vols’ 20 verbal pledges are set to sign Wednesday. They’re also hoping to get some good news from a pair of JUCO targets in Mississippi State wideout commit JaVonta Payton and defensive lineman Nick Figureroa.
On Thursday, top tailback target Eric Gray — a 4-star from Lausanne School in Memphis — will make his college choice known.
Heading into the Early Signing Period, Tennessee’s class ranks 14th nationally, per Rivals.
