Tennessee fans grew accustomed to it. So did SEC defenses.
Now, NFL teams may soon get to see Jalin Hyatt's speed on display.
The former Vols' wide receiver—who was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the New York Giants has been turning heads at preseason camp—showing off the kind of speed that helped him get open and turn in a record-breaking season at Tennessee in 2022.

According to Bergen Record Giants' beat reporter Art Stapleton, Hyatt said in an interview that the team GPS has clocked his speed as high as 24 MPH "a few times" during camp.
The fastest NFL receiver on record is Tyreek Hill, who was tracked at 23.3 MPH in 2016.
"It's up to (Hyatt) to go out there and show what he can do," Giants head coach Brian Daboll said last week. "We have had two days. We had an OTA, but we've had two days. He has a lot of work ahead of him, just like everybody on the team does. Everybody with earn their role, whatever that may be."
Hyatt played a big role in Tennessee's offense last season and hopes to make a similar impact in the NFL. He broke the program record for touchdowns in a single season with 15 last season along with 1,267 yards during the Vols' 11-2 campaign.

Hyatt became the first player in school history to win the Biletnikoff Award and was the highest Tennessee receiver selected in the draft since Cordarrelle Patterson went in the first round of the 2013 draft.
"Regardless of the position, when you're a rookie, there's always an adjustment period," Daboll said. "I coached receivers early in my career for six years or somewhat. Drafted quite a bit of receivers. They're all different, just like every player. Every position is different...That's why we are here to try and help them the best we can. (Hyatt) has got to put in the work, too."
The Giants open their preseason slate against the Detroit Lions on Aug. 11.
