Lady Vols basketball legendary forward Candace Parker is seeing her jersey enter the rafters... again.
After leading the WNBA's Chicago Sky to a championship in 2021, Parker is getting her jersey retired with the franchise on August 25, 2025. Her iconic No. 3 is already in the rafters of the Food City Center at Tennessee where she played her college ball, as well.
It's also set to be retired with the LA Sparks on June 29, another team she brought a title to and won a pair of MVPs with.
Before playing her collegiate career with the Lady Vols under Pat Summitt, Parker grew up in Naperville, making her ring in Chicago a hometown victory.

"Growing up in Naperville, playing on courts around here with my brothers, and watching Chicago teams like the Bulls who became synonymous with winning, I never imagined one day my jersey would hang in the rafters of my hometown team," Parker wrote in a release by the Sky. "Coming home to Chicago and helping bring the city its first WNBA championship here - it was personal. I'm beyond grateful to the city, the fans, and everyone who's been part of my journey. Chicago raised me, and this will always be my home."
The Sky announced their plan of celebrating Parker with a retirement ceremony, including an on-court tribute. Parker will address attending fans after a video montage highlighting her best moments with the organization.
Parker played two seasons with the Sky in 2021 and 2022. There, she averaged 13.3 and 13.2 points per game along with 8.4 and 8.6 rebounds.
Her title with Chicago was the second of her career. She won a ring prior with the Sparks and afterward with the Las Vegas Aces.
She is a three-time WNBA champion (2016, 2021, 2023), WNBA Finals MVP (2016), two-time MVP (2008, 2013), seven-time All-Star, seven-time All-WNBA First Team member, WNBA Defensive Player of the Year (2020) and WNBA Rookie of the Year (2008).
“Candace Parker is a legend, future hall-of-famer, and synonymous with Illinois basketball. We’re thrilled she decided to come home to Chicago to help the Sky win a championship in 2021,” Sky CEO and President Adam Fox said. “Candace has left an indelible mark on women’s basketball at every level and has inspired countless players and fans through her outstanding leadership and basketball talent on and off the court. We are honored to retire her jersey and celebrate her incredible legacy as a Chicago Sky player.”
Before dominating at the highest level of women's basketball in the WNBA, Parker was a star at Tennessee. In Knoxville under Summitt, Parker won national titles in both the 2007 and 2008 seasons. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament in both years.
In 2008, she was named the AP Player of the Year to go with back-to-back USBWA Player of the Year awards. She also won two Wooden Awards in her college tenure.
