New journey for Jackson will leave very little spare time

A trip to the bowling alley is rather routine on an official visit weekend for prospects that visit Tennessee. Hearing a group talk about it is rather common, but hearing them rave about one prospects skills on the hard lanes is less common. That's exactly what happened when Theo Jackson took his visit to Tennessee. Little did everyone know, Jackson has five bowling balls of his own at the house and frequents the alley's back in middle Tennessee.

"Most people don't know I bowl in my spare time," Jackson said with laugh. "I have won a couple of tournaments."

Jackson's career best is a score of 265 and it's a game he fell in love with from an early age.

"I started at 7 years old," Jackson said. "I remember my first time and I still have my first bowling ball. It's a Spiderman bowling ball."

Jackson is a natural lefty when he picks up the round ball with three holes. And just like the football field, no matter how much success he has, he doesn't talk smack.

"I don't talk," Jackson said. "I can move the ball in both directions, but I normally just curve it from left to right. When I start trash talking, I start doing awful."

And surprisingly enough, Jackson believes he can take one aspect of bowling and use it on the football field.

"The focus part of it," Jackson said. "I think about where do I stand and how do I want to throw it? I think I can take those things about the preparation and use it with football."

And that's what pushes Jackson. He wants to be the best and has been training extremely hard to give himself a chance once he arrives this week for summer classes and conditioning.

"I've been working hard with weights and conditioning," Jackson said. "I'm up to 182 and that's 12 pounds more than I was last year. I was very small. I can tell a difference in my explosiveness."

Did you enjoy how you went through the process with very little attention and more low key?

"I just wanted to stay quiet and show every one what I can do," Jackson said. "I like to stay to myself and then show everyone why I got the offers. I like that I'm coming in with very little fanfare."

We touched on this a little bit earlier, but Batman, Superman or Spiderman; if you could be one, who and why?

"Spiderman because I think walking on walls would be really cool," Jackson said.

If you could have dinner with three people, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

"It would be Sean Taylor," Jackson said. "I'd want to see what it took to get from college to the NFL. I'd want to have dinner with Biggie Smalls because I love his music. This is tough. I'm not sure who the other would be."

What's one meal that you will miss most that you get from your mom?

"My mom's neck bones and spaghetti," Jackson said. "Every time she cooks it, there is non stop eating. I only eat her neck bones, but it's so good."

Favorite Vol not named Peyton Manning?

"I'd go with Cordarrelle Patterson," Jackson said. "I love his style and swag. I like how he carries himself both on and off the field. Plus he loves Tennessee and finds time to come back to town when he can."
