Taylor impressed by the Vols

Tennessee always makes the state of Georgia important on the recruiting trail and that's no different in 2017. Sugar Hill, Georgia linebacker Tyler Taylor continues to collect offers like he does tackles on Friday nights and visited Tennessee earlier this month. On that visit, it was the Vols extending the chance to play.

"It was a great experience," Taylor said. "Tennessee is a top notch program and they will always be a top notch program. I was happy and surprised to get an offer from Tennessee. They just have everything I'm looking for."

One thing you get from most prospects is the family atmosphere that resonates at Tennessee. That was the case again with Taylor who felt a good vibe in Knoxville.

"Some schools say it's like family when it's not really like family," Taylor said. "I feel like with Tennessee, they are being nice out of their own kindness and not just because they want to get me here to play football. That says a lot to me."

Also impression the Peach state product was the facilities on Rocky Top. He really felt like they were second to none.

"The indoor facility is the best one I've seen," Taylor said. "It had so much room. Some of them have just the field and that's it. But it had plenty of room on the outside where people could be inside at the same time."

Taylor has a versatile game and he loves contact. Linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen really likes his game and made sure he knew it.

"People tell me I can play inside and outside linebacker," Taylor said. "I'm a sideline to sideline player. Tennessee told me they need me because they need linebackers. Coach Thigpen is an in your face, but he's not screaming and yelling. He said they really like my film."

The grueling process that is recruiting can wear on a prospect, but that's not been the case to this point.

"It's a great experience," Taylor said. "I've enjoyed it and not had any bad experiences. I want to grow it because I don't have a top school. I just want the schools to stay in contact with me because that will help determine my top five."

And if you are the school hoping to land Taylor, he made it clear that you have to do one thing above all else.

"It's important for coaches to stay in contact with me," Taylor said. "I want to build relationships so we can know each other and have a strong bond."

Rivals.com ranks Taylor as a 3-star linebacker in the class of 2017.
