Tennessee baseball's final home game of the 2025 regular season is set for Tuesday when Belmont comes to town.

This means the Vols will go through Senior Day festivities on game day to honor players in their final year.

The headline of the event is Hunter Ensley, a Tennessee outfielder that has captured the hearts of plenty of Vol fans.

Ensley joined the team in 2021 out of Huntingdon, Tennessee. He was considered the No. 292 player in the class and No. 9 player out of Tennessee by Perfect Game.

In his true freshman season, he earned a medical redshirt after playing in one game and having one at-bat.

In his redshirt-freshman year, he saw 13 games of action and racked up 16 at-bats. He posted a .188 average.

In 2023, he came on as a starter in the outfield. He helped the team reach the College World Series while batting .280 and clobbering seven home runs.

In 2024, as a redshirt-junior, he was the Vols' starting centerfielder. He was a massive part of the National Championship winning squad that year. He hit .296 and 12 home runs.

In Omaha for the College World Series, he had two iconic plays. He ran full speed into the wall in center while reeling in a critical catch. In the finals, he also avoided a tag at home plate in miraculous fashion to earn a run.

In 2025, his final year of eligibility, he has earned the role of go-to leader in the clubhouse. As the veteran, he is hitting .362 with nine home runs. There are four regular season games remaining.

Most recently, he was crucial in a game one win over Vanderbilt. He not only robbed a home run, but managed another mind-boggling slide to avoid a tag at home.

"I think he’s had to grow into it a little bit. I think, dating back to his high school days, including on the football field, he was a leader by how he competed," Tony Vitello said about Ensley after the first game of the series with Vanderbilt. "And I think the phrase ‘leads by example’ is kind of overused. It’s pretty vague. I think just the way he competed, everybody saw how you need to fight to try and win or try to accomplish whatever goal is in front of you. And that’s always really been here. As a matter of fact, he kind of had to reign it in. Reign it in and that’s how he was. But I mean, sometimes different circumstances call for you to adapt a little bit, and so I think he’s had to come out of the shell a little bit and direct traffic. And then it takes two to tango. I think our guys, because there have been some ups and downs in the year, need to realize this is a pretty good resource right here. Not just to look to, but listen to. And so, I think there’s that two-way street. You saw some unselfish play on the field, but there’s stuff behind the scenes too, that I think our guys have been unselfish."

Ensley has been on roster for three College World Series appearances, two SEC regular season titles, two SEC Tournament titles and a national title.
