Tennessee football cornerback Rickey Gibson III has given back to his hometown community.
The Vols' projected starter and rising junior went back to his high school, Hewitt-Trussville, to donate thousands of dollars to the football program.
The 2023 alumnus gave $5 thousand to the program, presented via check.

Gibson previously announced he intended to enter the spring transfer portal window prior to the beginning of spring camp. However, he was with the team throughout the camp period and ultimately did not enter the portal.
He is projected to start at cornerback opposite of a recovering Jermod McCoy. Other cornerbacks in the room are incoming Colorado transfer Colton Hood who joined in the spring window and Jalen McMurray.
Younger pieces in the room are Kaleb Beasley and Marcus Goree Jr.
As a sophomore, Gibson broke out as a part of one of the best secondaries in the country. He totaled 32 tackles and a pair of tackles for loss on the 2024 season.
He was credited with five passes defended and one forced fumble.
As a freshman in 2023, Gibson played in 13 games. He recorded nine tackles and one tackle for loss. He broke up one pass.
As a part of the 2023, class, Gibson was given a four-star rating. He was the No. 25 player in the state of Alabama and the No. 47 cornerback in the country.
As a senior, he totalled 40 tackles, 13 passes defended and four interceptions and was named to the Starnes Media All-South Metro first team. He helped lead his high school team to the AHSAA 7A playoffs three consecutive years.
