Tennessee football is possibly in position to land one of the best running backs in the 2026 class.

After he visited Knoxville for 865 Live last weekend, the Vols are seemingly one of the teams to beat for Savion Hiter.

He is a four-star recruit ranked as the No. 2 back in the country and No. 50 overall player.

Rivals National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney went through the top five uncommitted running backs in the 2026 class and picked where he thinks they'll end up.

Gorney picked Hiter to land with Tennessee in his prediction. This is over the likes of Michigan, Georgia and Ohio State.

"There is a little opaqueness in Hiter’s recruitment as Michigan had been the front-runner for a long time and it looked like things were heading in that direction with Georgia very much involved with the four-star from Mineral (Va.) Louisa County," Gorney wrote.

"Tennessee is now surging in this recruitment and while the Volunteers might not be the clear front-runner things are definitely trending in that direction. Ohio State is getting more in the mix as well so things could keep changing.

"But Tennessee is starting to take a lead in his recruitment, overtaking Michigan and others."

Currently, Tennessee owns commitments from eight players in the 2026 class. This is good for the No. 17 class in the country. The addition of Hiter would certainly boost the class up the board, though.

The Vols' top asset is five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon. He is the No. 1 signal caller in the class and No. 2 overall player.

While he isn't a five-star just yet, Tyreek King also has the chance to join Brandon in the club. The slot receiver out of Knoxville Catholic is the top player at his position and No. 28 player in the class.

Other four-star commits in the boat include tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda and the most recent addition, edge rusher Zach Groves.

Committed three-star recruits include linebacker Braylon Outlaw, edge rusher CJ Edwards and wide receiver Tyran Evans.
