Tennessee and North Carolina State announced a non-conference, neutral site game on Tuesday afternoon.
The two programs will meet in the Duke’s Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina in Week 2 of the 2024 season.
The game replaces Tennessee’s previously scheduled meeting with Oklahoma. That game was postponed due to COVID in 2020 and eventually cancelled due to Oklahoma’s pending SEC membership in 2024.
Tennessee and NC State last met in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta in 2012. The Vols won that matchup, 35-21.
NC State will be the fifth ACC opponent the Vols have played since 2017.
Tennessee beat Georgia Tech in Chick-fil-A Game to open the 2017 season and split a home-and-home series with Pittsburgh in 2021 and 2022.
The Vols are slated to open the 2023 season against Virginia at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on September 2.
Tennessee last played in Charlotte in its 2018 season opener against West Virginia.
