A three-star, in-state prospect from Mt. Juliet in the 2023 class, the 6-foot-5, 314-pound Bussell picked Tennessee over Kentucky, Indiana, Ole Miss and others.

Bussell was the 27th ranked player in the state and 71st at the tackle position, according to Rivals.

Bussell was expected to play reserve role for the Vols as a redshirt sophomore in 2025. He appeared in three games last season.

Tennessee's offensive line is replacing several key contributors, including starting center Cooper Mays, starting guard Javontez Spraggins and starting tackle John Campbell Jr.

The Vols signed five-star David Sanders Jr. in their most recent signing class and return tackle Lance Heard.

Bussell is the fifth Tennessee player to enter the portal since it opened earlier this week, joining quarterback Nico Iamaleava, wide receiver Dayton Sneed and defensive backs Christian Charles and John Slaughter.

Iamaleava is expected to sign with UCLA.

The transfer portal window, which officially opened on Wednesday, will remain open through April 25. After that deadline, players are no permitted to enter, but players remaining in the portal can still be pursued by other schools.
