Andrew Fischer homered twice and Liam Doyle turned in another masterful start as No. 1 Tennessee rolled past Texas A&M, 10-0 in seven innings on Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Ten months after the two teams met in the College World Series final in Omaha, the Vols (28-2, 9-1 SEC) didn't need any late-game heroics against the struggling Aggies (14-15, 1-9).

The Tennessee lineup combined for 12 hits and four home runs, with Fischer hitting both of his in the second and third innings, and Dean Curley and Hunter Ensley hitting one each in the fifth and sixth, respectively.

Ariel Antigua and Dalton Bargo accounted for RBIs.

Doyle (5-1) tossed a no-hitter, walking two and striking out eight in 6.0 innings of work. Reliever Dylan Loy preserved the no-hitter, sending Texas A&M down in order in the seventh.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Liam Doyle impressed early, sending Texas A&M down in order in the first and then overcoming a fielding error from Ariel Antigua at short to hold the Aggies scoreless and hitless through two.

Andrew Fischer came through at the plate in the bottom of the second, mashing a lead-off home run into right to open up a 1-0 lead for Tennessee.

Manny Marin singled to left a few at-bats later, but Ryan Prager was able to limit the damage to just the one run.

Doyle continued to cruise, too. He tossed his fifth strikeout as part of another 1-2-3 frame in the third to keep Texas A&M at bay. The Vols' lineup, meanwhile started to pile on in the bottom half.

Dean Curley singled to right-center with one out, and Hunter Ensley reached on an error. It all set up Fischer for his second homer in as many innings, a three-run shot off of the scoreboard in right to up Tennessee's lead to 4-0.

Curley stretched the advantage in the fifth with a lead-off solo shot to right to lead 5-0, though Dalton Bargo was thrown out at home in attempt to add another run after he doubled to left-center in the previous at-bat.

Doyle still hadn't given up a hit by the sixth, but a one out walk and hit-by-pitch put two on for the Aggies in the inning. Texas A&M again came up empty-handed after Caden Sorrell grounded into a 4-6-3 double play.

Jay Abernathy doubled to begin the bottom sixth and moved over to third on a passed ball. Antigua drove him in with an infield single to third and the Vols led 6-0. Tennessee wasn't done in the inning, either.

Bargo singled to center and Antigua scored. Then Ensley hit the Vols' fourth home run of the night into the Tennessee bullpen in right for a 10-0 lead that ushered in the run-rule with still two outs in the frame.

UP NEXT

Tennessee and Texas A&M will play two on Saturday.

Game 2 and 3 of the series will be a doubleheader at Lindsey Nelson Stadium due to forecasted inclement weather on Sunday.

The first game is slated for a 3 p.m. ET start, followed by the second game and series finale at 7 p.m. or 45 minutes after the previous game. Both games will air on SEC Network+.
