For the second time this week, Tennessee softball has dipped into the transfer portal to pick up an elite player for next season.
Despite the Lady Vols still yet to play in the Women's College World Series, they landed the commitment of Boise State outfielder Sophia Knight.
She joins EKU two-way standout Maddi Rutan as incoming transfers.

Knight is coming off her second season with Boise State. In her sophomore campaign, she hit .486 at the plate in 56 starts and appearances. She did not hit a home run, but did manage 22 RBI and 63 runs. She also stole 27 bases.
For the season, she was named First Team All-Mountain West.
As a freshman, Knight reeled in nearly countless honors. She was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year and to the Softball America Freshman All-American team for her efforts.
In her first collegiate season, Knight posted a .405 average while starting in all 59 of her appearances. She hit one home run with 21 RBI and 551 runs scored. She stole 18 bases that year, as well.
Knight is from Huntington Beach, California. As a senior, she hit. 465. Throughout her career, she notched a .446 batting average with 77 runs and 37 stolen bases in 81 games.
She'll join a long list of returners for the Lady Vols, including back-to-back SEC Pitcher of the Year Karlyn Pickens. Senior who went through senior day festivities were Kinsey Fiedler, McKenna Gibson, Laura Mealer, Sophia Nugent and Katie Taylor.
Tennessee is now preparing to open its 2025 Women's College World Series run. As the national 7-seed, UT will open the WCWS against 2-seed Oklahoma. The Sooners are four-time defending national champions.
First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET in Oklahoma City — the site of every game of the WCWS. The game will air on ESPN.
The Lady Vols already own a series win over Oklahoma this season. On the road, Tennessee took two-of-three against the Sooners in Norman.
