Tennessee softball is moving on to the second round of the Knoxville Regional with a win.
The No. 7 overall seed Lady Vols blew by Miami (OH) at home 17-0 in run-rule fashion. The game lasted just five innings due to the margin.
This puts Tennessee in the winner's bracket of the regional to face the winner between Ohio State and North Carolina tomorrow afternoon. The regional is a two-loss elimination format with the winner on to super regionals.

Tennessee handed the ball to SEC Pitcher of the Year Karlyn Pickens to get the game started. She pitched three innings without giving up a run. She was replaced by Sage Mardjetko with a 13-run lead already in place.
Pickens got a healthy amount of run support, as well. Leaving the yard was McKenna Gibson, Gabby Leach, Sophia Nugent and Laura Mealer who hit a grand slam.
Despite not lifting a home run, Emma Clarke also logged an impressive day at the plate. She produced two hits and three RBI.
WHAT HAPPENED
Tennessee and Miami (OH) traded scoreless first innings to get the tournament started.
In the top of the second, Pickens allowed the bases to load after a walk and pair of singles. However, she produced a strikeout and a double-play ball to get out of the inning unscathed.
The Lady Vols used this momentum at the plate. Gibson opened the inning with a solo shot before a Mealer single and Clarke double pushed in a second run.
In the third, Pickens settled back in for a 1-2-3 inning. In the bottom of the frame, Tennessee blew the game completely open. The Lady Vols got a double from Clarke with the bases loaded to push across an additional two runs. The next at-bat, Leach hit a three-run home run to push the lead up to 7-0.
After the home run, Tennessee would load the bases with two outs. Nugent was hit by a pitch to score the eighth run. A walk in the following at-bat drawn by Gibson pushed across a ninth.
With the bases still loaded at this point, Mealer teed off on a ball for a grand slam. This brought the lead all the way up to 13-0. This was ultimately an 11-run inning to take a demanding lead after just three frames.
This made way for Mardjetko to enter due to the sizable lead.
In the following inning, Tennessee used a Saviya Morgan RBI single and Nugent three-run blast to extend the lead up to 17-0.
