A long weekend for Tennessee baseball that included a couple of weather delays, postponements and one walk-off victory ended in its third-straight series loss to Auburn on Sunday.

The Vols’ slide continued with two out of three losses to the Tigers, marking the first time under Tony Vitello that Tennessees has lost three consecutive series.

The losses, in Game 1 and in the series finale Sunday, also dropped the Vols in the D1 Baseball Top 25 for the third-straight week.

After falling out of the top 10 a week ago, Tennessee (37-11, 14-10 SEC) fell three spots to No. 15 on Monday.

The Vols are the seventh highest ranked team from the SEC, following No. 1 Texas, No. 3 LSU, No. 6 Georgia, No. 7 Arkansas, No. 8 Auburn and No. 11 Vanderbilt.

Tennessee has two midweek non-conference games left against Indiana State on Tuesday (6 p.m. ET, SEC Network+) and Belmont at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The Vols host Vanderbilt in a three-game series this weekend before finishing off their regular season slate at Arkansas as they try to reverse course before the SEC Tournament begins later this month in Hoover, Alabama.

“I think that (the leadership) is great,” Vitello said. “I mean, we had a conversation there at the end…I think there’s enough talent, enough leadership and enough ability to execute.”
