Tennessee’s quest for pass rushers in the 2021 class saw the Vols host a slew of top outside linebackers during a busy junior day weekend.
Dylan Brooks, who has been to Rocky Top countless times over the last two years, was back on campus but a new face made his way to town as the Vols look to get involved with a 4-star edge rusher from Philadelphia.
Elijah Jeudy is a Top 200 prospect and holds more than 25 offers. He has several April official visits s scheduled for several of his top contenders including Georgia, LSU and Texas A&M. The Vols are looking to join the mix for Jeudy, who was part of a Northeast High (Penn.) team that got its first glimpse of Rocky Top on Saturday.
“This visit was a different experience,” Jeudy told Volquest.
“It was different than most all the other schools I’ve been to. Some schools tell you what you want to hear, but here they told me what I needed to know. What I do well, what I need to fix, how’d they use me. That what set them apart from some other schools today.”
Jeudy is a 6-4, 242-pound edge rusher who clocked a 4.47 at a Nike Regional event last spring. He had 11 TFLs, six sacks and another nine QB hits as a junior, and the Philadelphia native compared his game to a former Pitt great.
“Big Aaron Donald fan,” he said. “I try to match my get-off with him.”
Jeudy got to meet Tennessee’s new outside linebackers coach Shelton Felton, and the two watched film together on how the Vols would utilize him in their hybrid scheme.
“It was similar to Georgia. Similar (film study). They run both run the 3-4 and the 4-3. They’d use me here in the JACK, SAM and the BUCK. How’d they’d use me as a pass rusher and drop in to coverage,” he said.
“Coach Felton was an energetic guy. He’s a cool guy I can vibe with. He actually taught me a new move today. He taught me a trick to read the left tackle. I can vibe with him.”
The Vols are playing catch-up a bit with Jeudy, but they definitely caught his attention this weekend.
“I’m hearing from Georgia the most. Then LSU, Texas A&M and Penn State. I’m still waiting on some other schools to offer but Tennessee is on map (now)."
