Vols add 2016's McDaniel to DL

Tennessee added another late member to its 2016 class with Georgia defensive lineman Mykelle McDaniel choosing the Vols over several late offers.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end out of Grayson High School was a late qualifier, but had the reputations of one of the top defensive linemen in the Peach State early in his career.

The addition helps the Vols on the defensive front as Tennessee originally signed just two defensive linemen in the class of 2016, junior college athletes Jonathan Kongbo and Alexis Johnson.

But, Johnson has been suspended since the February and his status is still up in the air for the upcoming season.

It could be hard for McDaniel to make an impact early on in his career as he missed all of summer conditioning and isn't likely to be on campus until fall camp begins.
