As a Tennessee native, the point guard on multiple Lady Vol National Championship teams and Tennessee's current women's basketball head coach, it's tough to find someone with more ties to the university than Kellie Harper.

Due to this, Harper is seen at the majority of Vol football games cheering on her alma mater.

Her love for football is clear to everyone on her team. Jasmine Powell noticed this quickly once arriving on campus.

TALK ABOUT IT IN THE ROCKY TOP FORUM

"Coach Kellie is a huge football fan," said Powell. "You can't (be on the team) and not like football."

Harper isn't ashamed of her fandom. Although she says she has no 'technical background' involving football, she gets sucked into Tennessee's games every Saturday.

For her, it isn't just about being a fan, though. Harper carries responsibilities on the recruiting side during these games, as well.

However, once she's in her seat, she's ready to help give an edge for Tennessee from the stands.

"We have a lot of recruiting built into those college football days," said Harper. "For me, I get to sit, I have a few different options for seats but I like when I'm down, close to the field, I can get into it. I'm not going to lie, in our (Texas) A&M game, there were a few times where I was tired, but it was third down and they needed me. So, I had to stand up and give my all for Tennessee. I get into it and I'm passionate about it. I think that our players see that and I think that's healthy. I really do. I think when they see pulling for one another, we're all connected here. We all bleed orange."

Currently, the football team sits at 5-2 overall with a 2-2 record in SEC play.

Coming off a 10-2 season and Orange Bowl victory, the buzz around the program has reached highs it hasn't seen in years.

Harper is enjoying their success as she sees the hard work the players and coaches have put in.

"First off, I have no background, no technical background whatsoever," said Harper. "I'm just your common fan. I love them. I pull for them so much. I want everyone around me to pull for them, as well. I just, you know how hard they're working. They're doing things the right way. You just want to see people like that succeed. I try to remind myself not to get upset because they're college kids just like our players. They need our support more than anything."

Next, the football team heads to Lexington to face Kentucky on Saturday. For the Lady Vols, they begin the season on Nov. 7 with a match against Florida A&M.
