It took two days, a postponement and multiple changes to start times on both days, but Tennessee baseball's opener against Auburn is in the books.
The result was the Tigers claiming a 6-1 win after putting up a pair of runs Friday night and the remaining insurance on Saturday.
No. 10 Auburn (32-14, 12-10 SEC) was the only team to bat on Friday night. With rain pounding Lindsey Nelson Stadium, the Tigers used a home run in the top of the first to take a 2-0 lead.

Before the No. 12 Vols (36-10, 13-9) could take the plate, the umpire crew put the game in a weather delay due to the condition of the mound. Later that night, it was suspended until Saturday.
With the start time changing multiple times in the morning, the pair of teams finally got underway at 11:35 a.m. ET, picking up in the bottom of the first.
For Tennessee, Liam Doyle got the start. The Vols' ace gave up the two-run shot in the first but was unable to return after getting hot and pitching a full inning on Friday.
This led to freshman Tegan Kuhns entering for him on Saturday. Through less-than-ideal conditions, Kuhns put together a productive outing, going 4.2 innings and 74 pitches while giving up two runs on five hits, a walk and six strikeouts.
Behind him, Tanner Franklin took the mound to throw 1.2 innings. He gave up one run on his only hit allowed which left the yard. Brandon Arvidson, Austin Breedlove, Michael Sharman and Andrew Behnke combined to go the rest of the way.
The best day at the plate was from Dalton Bargo. The starting left fielder produced a pair of hits and came across to score the only run of the game after a double. It was another double from Levi Clark that pushed him home.
WHAT HAPPENED
Tennessee got the game started at the rescheduled 8 p.m. ET start time.
In the top of the first, a walk and possibly questionable home run gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Doyle worked out of it after an Auburn batter lost grip of his bat and sent it into his own dugout before popping out.
Before the Tigers could take the field in the bottom of the first, the umpire crew put the game under delay after feeling the mound and deciding it was not suitable for play.
The game was ultimately suspended until Saturday morning. It was moved back to 11:45, then up to 11:35, before play was back underway.
Tennessee's bats didn't come out hot after waiting over 12 hours from first pitch to get its first crack. The Vols were sat down in order.
Auburn picked up where it left off, though. The Tigers added another run to their lead in the top of the third off an RBI single. This came off of Kuhns who took over to start Saturday's action after Doyle started the game on Friday.
In the bottom of the fifth with one out, Tennessee finally got a runner aboard. Bargo singled to break up Auburn's early perfect game bid. However, after strike calls to Clark that elicited reactions from Tony Vitello and Clark in the box, Bargo was stranded.
In the sixth, Kuhns gave up a monster solo shot to right field. He was pulled after one more out for Franklin but finished with an overall positive body of work considering the conditions.
Cannon Peebles began the bottom of the frame with a roped single to right field. Manny Marin and Gavin Kilen also had hard-hit balls but both were directly to the right fielder. Peebles made his way to third as the result of the at-bats.
That's where he'd stay, though, with Dean Curley grounding out to end the frame with no damage done.
Tennessee got its offense going in the bottom of the seventh with two outs. After a Bargo double, Clark ripped a ball off the very, very top of the wall in right-center. Following a review, it was deemed the ball stayed in the park by what appeared to be just inches.
This did force a pitching change as Samuel Dutton was replaced by Ryan Hetzler. He survived the tough spot, though, with Reese Chapman striking out in three pitches.
Tennessee's one-run chipped away at the lead didn't last long. Franklin gave up a lead-off shot to push the score to 5-1 in favor of the Tigers. Arvidson entered shortly after to finish the frame.
Jay Abernathy got aboard on a pinch-hit single in the bottom of the eighth but an ensuing double-play ended the frame.
Breedlove entered in the top of the ninth. After allowing a runner and striking out one batter, Sharman took over. After one batter, Behnke entered. He threw a wild pitch to allow one run to score but finished the inning.
Chapman singled in the ninth but that was all as Auburn won by five.
