Shortly after sophomore wide receiver Walker Merrill entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal on Wednesday morning, another Tennessee player followed suit.
RJ Perry – a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman – has become the ninth Vols player to enter the portal during the current cycle. A Fairfield, Alabama native, Perry was a reserve lineman and saw limited playing time while on Rocky Top.
A former three-star recruit out of the 2020 class, Perry held a number of offers coming out of Fairfield (Ala.) Preparatory School before committing to Tennessee in 2019. He began his collegiate career as a defensive lineman before switching over the offensive side of the ball as a freshman in 2020.
Perry will have three more years of eligibility remaining at his next school.
