This is now the third spring portal addition for the Vols. They have previously added App State and UCLA quarterback Joey Aguilar and Grand Valley State defensive lineman Josh Schell.

Tennessee has lost a trio of defensive backs, including John Slaughter to Colorado. Jakobe Thomas is headed to Miami and Christian Charles picked Virginia, as well.

Also headed to play for the Buffs is offensive lineman Larry Johnson III.

Hood is coming off his lone season in Boulder under Colorado head coach Deion Sanders.

As a redshirt freshman, he played in all 13 games and started one. This came on the road at Arizona.

He finished the year with 24 tackles, eight third down stops, six pass breakups, two picks, a fourth down stop and a tackle for loss.

His finest game of the year came in replacement of an injured Travis Hunter against Kansas State. With the future Heisman winner out, Hood came up with a pick to set up a game-winning score by the Buffs.

Due to his solid year, he earned CFN All-Big 12 Honorable Mention Cornerback.

As a true freshman, Hood played for Auburn. He appeared in four games to keep his redshirt status intact which is what allows him to play up to three years for the Vols.

He finished that year with three tackles. All of those came against Maryland in the Music City Bowl.

As a recruit, Hood was a three-star prospect out of McDonough, Georgia. With Eagle's Landing Christian, he played cornerback, wide receiver, quarterback and running back. The team ultimately went to the second round of the playoffs.

As a cornerback recruit in the 2023 class, Hood was ranked as the No. 64 player out of the Peach State and No. 68 at his position.

He was a multisport athlete, as well. He was named the 2022 Region 5-2A Athlete of the Year due to his excellence.

In baseball, Hood was a three-time all-region baseball player and two-time all-state center fielder. He also was a part of an all-state 4x100 relay in track and lettered in basketball.

His brother, Brandon Hood, was a true freshman at Colorado last season with Colton Hood. His uncle, Roderick Hood, played eight seasons in the NFL after starring at Auburn.
