Both Tennessee and Alabama emerged from last weekend with their College Football Playoff hopes intact.
Their survival stories will hardly matter when the two teams kickoff for the 107th renewal of the "Third Saturday in October" later today (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC) at Neyland Stadium with heavy postseason implications.

The No. 11 Vols avoided two-straight losses with a come-from-behind win over Florida in overtime where again their defense and stellar running back Dylan Sampson were enough to overcome another sluggish outing from the Tennessee offense.
As for No. 7 Alabama, the Crimson Tide followed up a historic loss at Vanderbilt with narrow escape at home against South Carolina. Now both teams are looking to avoid those same woes in a game that will bolster the resume of one team, and leave the other with razor thin margin for error heading into the back-half of the season.
There's a lot on the line, which means there was plenty to write and talk about this week. The weekly Gameday Newsstand brings you all of the stories from VolReport leading up to kickoff, all in one place.
